We specialize in taking your vision and creating beautiful, custom furniture or wood decor for your home. We love working with reclaimed wood - we are inspired by the reality that under all the dirt, dings and mess, there is beauty to be found. A lot of our products used to be pieces of old barns, buildings, or fallen trees around central IL and we love seeing old things become new again.

We offer a variety of products including dining tables, entry tables, coffee tables, benches, shelving, kitchen islands, barn doors, bed frames, built-ins, charcuterie boards, coasters, and any other custom creation you can dream up! We can work with an idea, a picture, or a sketch; we won’t stop until your vision has come to life, just the way you want it. Our Story

Shields Custom Woodworking started as a hobby and has grown to be a true passion. The first piece Kody built was a dining table made from old pallets - this was the first dining table we had in our first home together. After that, we made several pieces of furniture for our house, learning valuable lessons during each project and refining our skills. This need for furniture created a desire in Kody to work with his hands and give purpose to old, weathered, rough lumber. This experience paralleled well with our life experiences and hardships.

Unfortunately, we have seen how addiction can destroy individuals and families. We have seen the lies it makes people believe; telling them they are broken, beyond repair, useless or worthless. We believe there is beauty and purpose for everyone - just like there’s beauty and purpose underneath old lumber. We have a passion for redeeming the past and preparing for a joyful and beautiful future. Our big, scary dream and hope is to employ recovering addicts one day. To teach them useful skills and encourage them in their lives, reminding them of their worth. No board is useless, and no person is useless either. We hope that in your interactions with us or your experience of our furniture, you see beauty, purpose and hope. We hope you know your purchases with us are serving a much grander vision and fueling a dream.
